Hip Kit February Layout #4

JUMP FOR JOY

I like to make two page layouts, you can put a lot of photos on them to help tell your story.  Melanie did a tutorial this week on the trend of Banners.  So I decided to take that trend and put it on this layout.

You have probably figured out the I am obsessed with punches/dies right now.  Jenni Bowlen has some new punches that are super cute and trendy.  On this layout, I used her Scallop Banner Punch.

I also took the half circle chipboard shapes and traced the pattern onto the Echo Park Tag Paper and hand cut the words to add to my borders.  I also added another accordion flower made from my Tim Holtz die.  They are so cute and add some dimension.

WHY WON'T THIS CRAZY THING WORK?

Each month the Design Team gets a sketch to work off of.  I always think it's really fun because everyone interprets the sketches differently.  Our sketch this month was from Jillibean Soup

For my layout, I pretty much stuck to the design above as I thought it was really cute.  Sometimes it is nice to just whip out a layout in minutes and sketches help to do that.

I used my new Lucky 8 punch from WeR Memory Keepers and just punched out the inside design.  I thought that the stars fit the picture perfectly as Sami is trying to get her magic wand to work.

I drug out some of my old Spellbinder dies to cut out the circles for the title.  Punches and dies are a fun way to jazz up your pages.  Even pulling out those old edger scissors can add a great bit of detail to your page.

I LOVE YOUR UNIQUE SENSE OF STYLE

The butterflies in this kit are so much fun.  So far I've put them on both layouts that I have done.  My daughter is only three and is turning into such a little fashionista.  She is very opinionated on what she wears and won't take any input from me.  She was especially proud of this outfit and wanted to do a fashion shoot.  The colors in this kit worked with her crazy outfit perfectly.

I really liked the Echo Park Teal Damask Page.  It has all these great tags on the flip side.  I cut mine down to little banner tags that are so trendy now.

I also hand cut out some butterflies and them put them on the border strip to make a few of the pop.

On the corrugated letters, I sprayed a little bit of the Mister Huey Mist (that was in last months kit) onto a plate and took a makeup sponge and dabbed into the mist.  I then lightly rubbed on the letters until I got the color I wanted.

I am obsessed with punches and dies right now.  A new punch that I just got was from WeR Memory Keepers.  It is their Lucky 8 Floral Burst Punch.  I cut out the craft paper with it to get the huge brackets.  It is very simple to use and you get really big die cuts.

Tim Holtz has this wonderful Mini Rosette Strip Die that cuts and perforates those cute little accordion flowers that are everywhere.  It is my favorite die right now as you can make those flowers in seconds and you can make them to match your layouts perfectly.

The cute flower above was made with one of the new Cuttlebug Quilling Dies.  This is the Daisy Pattern.  It is a easy way to made a very dimensional flower in a couple of minutes.

Hip February Kit Layout #1

Kimberly has started a new schedule for posting layouts on her blog. (Hip 2B Scrapbooking). So my layouts will be in separate posts.

CUTE NEW DO

I love how the papers worked perfectly with the colors in Sami's shirt.  I tend to match my pictures to the papers by colors.  I loved the canvas butterflies.  I stitched an outline around the butterfly to make it pop.  I put down a bead of paper glue in a curly pattern for the butterfly trail to put the Baker's twine.  The flowers were made from circle punches and I cut some dimension into one of the layers.
